Forbes Covers Women in Sex Tech

NEW YORK — Forbes recently published an article showcasing the female entrepreneurs that are innovating the sexual wellness market with cutting-edge products and new business models.

In the article “Closing The Gender Gap in Orgasms: Expect More Disruption in 2019,” Forbes contributor Geri Stengel highlights five strategies that “vagipreneurs” are using to legitimize products for women’s sexual health, based on the book “Orgasmic Leadership: Profiting from the Coming Surge in Women's Sexual Health and Wellness.” The author, Rachel Braun Scherl, also is the cofounder of Zestra, the first non-prescription product for women’s sexual arousal.

Innovations in tech and improvements such as the use of body-safe ingredients to boost sexual satisfaction are at the core of these female-fronted companies. Additionally, education is serving as the marketing for sexual wellness products, which for the most part can’t be successfully advertised in mainstream.

“Produce interesting and engaging educational content,” said Polly Rodriguez, CEO and cofounder of Unbound. “There is wide variation in knowledge about female sexuality and there's enormous curiosity.”

Nuelle, whose flagship product, Fiera Personal Care Device, is the first scientifically proven wearable libido-enhancing technology to help women prepare for sexual intimacy, naturally, has created a social campaign “Legalize V” to encourage the destigmatization of the word “vagina.”

The article concludes with a prediction about the future of the women’s sexual health and wellbeing market.

“As women become more educated about solutions to their problems, for sure the sector will continue to grow. However, Braun Scherl predicts other changes as well, such as the creation of larger companies that have a family of products. Smaller companies that could benefit from economies of scale will be purchased and rolled up into a larger company, she continued.”
